People go about “normal” activity while 2 lay dead on the beach

TORREGAVETA, Italy (July 21) – Italian newspapers, an archbishop and civil liberties campaigners expressed shock and revulsion on Monday after photographs were published of sunbathers apparently enjoying a day at the beach just meters from where the bodies of two drowned Roma girls were laid out on the sand.
Italian news agency ANSA reported that the incident had occurred on Saturday at the beach of Torregaveta, west of Naples, southern Italy, where the two girls had earlier been swimming in the sea with two other Roma girls. Reports said they had gone to the beach to beg and sell trinkets.
Two of the girls had obtained rescue, but the other two could not be reached in time, apparently the girls were cousins aged 12 and 13. While the two dead girls lay on the beach people sunbathed and ate lunch on about 50 foot away, the church has also came out to condemn this act.

Tobacco Could Treat Cancer

Scientists use the plant to “grow” key components of a cancer vaccine, and when I first saw this I was in a state of shock myself until I realized what they were actually doing. They are using the plants as factories for an antibody chemical specific to the cells which cause follicular B-cell lymphoma, a type of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
More research is needed but this could prove to be a step in the right direction,by getting the treatment from plants the cost would be cheaper and there would be less risk to the patient.

Man keeps sex slave in basement

REDWOOD
CITY — A Daly City man accused of housing a teenage girl in the
basement of his parents’ home and molesting her hundreds of times will
face up to 20 years in prison after copping a plea on Wednesday to more
than a dozen felony counts of child abuse and domestic violence.

John
France Gonzales, a 23-year-old former pharmacy technician, had been
charged with 142 felonies, including more than 100 counts of child
abuse, many involving sodomy and oral copulation.

Prosecutors
slapped Gonzales with every possible felony count to hold him
accountable for more than 500 occasions of sexual conduct with the
victim, according to Morley Pitt, San Mateo County’s assistant district
attorney.

But the district attorney’s office had always planned
to reduce the multiple felony charges against Gonzales as long as he
accepted responsibility for his criminal behavior, Pitt said.

Prior
to the plea bargain, Gonzales faced up to 132 years in prison,
according to the prosecutor. Now he will spend no more than 20 years in
prison.

It seems these kind of stories are all the time in the news, very disturbing acts seems to be taking place more frequently. A hearing set for his sentencing date is scheduled for July 23rd.
